Peacemakers is excited to be recruiting a Peace Education Trainer for Young People to expand our work in the West Midlands. Peacemakers is a peace education charity aimed at building peaceful communities through developing skills of peace in individuals, groups and communities. We work extensively with primary aged children and are looking to build on our work with young people of secondary age and above. Following a Home Office grant to work with young people at risk of becoming involved in knife crime in Birmingham, we see great potential in this area of work and are looking for the right person to take it further
As a new post in a small team, you will be developing our work with young people in and out of school. The post includes working with young people to develop skills associated with peace, such as conflict resolution, emotional literacy, critical thinking and making change happen, as well as leading dialogue on issues of conflict and peace.
The role requires a dynamic facilitator, with experience of working with this age group, a team player who can take initiative and develop a programme of work. The successful candidate will champion young people’s voice and participation, and embody the qualities and values of peace. They will be comfortable building relationships and writing reports, facilitating circles and evaluating programmes of work.
Peacemakers is a values led, collaborative and creative organisation. We are seeking candidates whose personal values resonate with ours and a strong commitment to peace and to listening to young people.
The deadline for applications is 9am on the 21st of November. Please use the application form in the application pack. No CVs please.
First interviews will be held in our office on the 3rd December and second interviews on the 10th or 11th of December.
We welcome applications that reflect the diversity of the community we are part of.
The Peacemakers office is on the first floor of an old building and there is no lift.
