Freelance trainers – are you interested in developing peacebuilding skills in young people?

Peacemakers is looking for new Associate Trainers to work with us across the West Midlands.

Please send in applications between 6th and the 20th January by emailing to office@peacemakers.org.uk

We are looking for people to train to become Peacemaker trainers on a freelance basis, particularly to work on our peer mediation training programme, but potentially on other areas of peace education.

Our peer mediation trainings are run in primary schools for up to 24 children over three days, predominantly in Birmingham, Coventry and the Black Country. They equip children to mediate playground conflicts for their peers; conflict resolution for young people by young people. The training is experiential and fun, facilitated in a circle with lots of role play and games and activities.

We are looking for people fully committed to peace and non-violent approaches to conflict and able to model this.  You will be experienced in working with groups of children or young people and leading them in activities, and ideally have knowledge of an area such as PSHE, emotional literacy or conflict resolution issues. A familiarity with schools is desirable, excellent communication and inter-personal skills essential.

We will offer training and shadowing of experienced trainers to become familiar with our work and approach.   For an informal chat about the role you can call Jackie, Programme Director, on 0121 236 4796 after the 6th January.

We welcome applications from all parts of the community as we think it is important to reflect the communities we work in.

To apply please send your CV with no more than two sides of A4 explaining why you are interested in the role and highlighting relevant experience and skills. Please also include names and contact details of two referees.

All trainers are subject to DBS checking.

Please send in applications between 6th and the 20th January by emailing to office@peacemakers.org.uk.
