Peacemakers

        • We want a world where people are equipped to deal peacefully and creatively with the inevitable conflicts that arise for all of us.

We work with schools, units, clubs, committees, teams, collectives and groups of people regardless of age or anything else.

We support people within communities to build, strengthen and repair relationships at all levels.

Midlands Mediation Network Event – Elizabeth Stokoe: Negotiation, Persuasion and High Stakes Decision-Making For Mediators and Other Professionals

This is a single event.

Professor Liz Stokoe will share insights from research in high stakes settings that are about persuasion, resistance and decision-making. The aim is for mediators and other professionals to better understand the communication practices that work to persuade, overcome resistance and share decision-making when the parties are emotional and the conflict is high: life support treatment, suicide and crisis negotiation, and health-and-safety conversations.

Learn:
What professionals do that cause conflict and resistance
What communication strategies work in stressful conversations with emotional parties
Why we’re wrong about rapport
Which verbs lead to engagement in high stakes settings

Why every word matters
